Raising a Family with Plymouth Brethren Values: The Little Family’s Story

Share

The Little family offer insight into raising children within the Plymouth Brethren faith, where stability, support, and shared purpose are central to family life.

Their story reflects how our Church’s values have helped to positively guide parenting, education, and everyday life.

Meet the Little Family

We’re Gavin and Shelley Little and we’re members of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church. We have three children, Bryony, Eden and Walter and we’ve been married for 11 years.

A perfect day would start at about quarter to six, and we would go for a walk, and I shoot off to work while Shelley finishes the rest of her work. For breakfast, Walter has weet-bix and Bryony has nutri-grain. Then I would take them to school, I’d leave here at about half past.

I come home from work, Shelley’s normally preparing dinner, I often cook the meat on the barbecue, so the kids come outside. We do a little bit of down time, then it’d be dinner time, showers and then whoever’s going out [to the evening Church gathering] if we all are, or just myself.

Saturday is the day that we have the most amount of time to ourselves and we try to make the most of that with the kids. We might go for a swim; we might do a beach walk or a bike ride or walk along by the water. Our kids love the water, and so do we, so that is probably a big part of our downtime.
