Family, Education, and the Rapid Relief Team

Service is one of the essential building blocks of a successful life for members of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church. We actively practice our Christian beliefs by supporting our local and global communities. This blog will examine key themes of service in the form of family, education and charity.
Our commitment to the family unit and serving the wider community are at the core of who we are. Plymouth Brethren values are centred on humility, integrity and mutual responsibility. They are not just abstract concepts; they are the lived experience of every member.
Within the Plymouth Brethren community, families have tight bonds and often generations live near one another to provide support, wisdom, and care to one another. It is common for young adults to live at home until they marry, a practice that reinforces family stability and shared values.
Another key pillar in raising our children is education. We believe they deserve a high-quality education that prepares them for a meaningful career and a life of service. To achieve this, our families support OneSchool Global, one of the world’s most innovative and independent school networks.
At OneSchool Global, students utilise “self-directed learning,” a method that fosters critical thinking and professional maturity. OneSchool Global follows the national curriculum of the respective countries in which it operates and is staffed by professional teachers from outside our church, ensuring our youth are well-integrated into, and can contribute positively to, the broader community.
After school, students will often go on to further study while working. Some will pursue university-level or other tertiary and post-school qualifications by distance or correspondence, as the on-campus lifestyle is not in line with our values.
The notion of community service begins at home and at school but goes far beyond those places. It is something members carry into adulthood and manifests itself in a number of ways, including the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) which is the charitable heart of our church. Founded upon the Plymouth Brethren beliefs of compassion and charity, the Rapid Relief Team provides tangible support to those in need.
Whether it is providing meals to firefighters battling bushfires in Australia, supporting flood victims in the UK, or assisting the homeless in the USA, the Rapid Relief Team is a global force for good. This work is a clear demonstration that being part of the Plymouth Brethren does not mean being isolated. On the contrary, we are deeply invested in the welfare of our neighbours. We shop in local stores, volunteer for community projects, and our members run businesses that employ thousands of people from diverse backgrounds. By living out our Plymouth Brethren faith through positive action, we hope to demonstrate that a life of devotion can go hand in hand with a life of active service to all of humanity.
